60-year-old National Conference worker injured after shot at by unknown gunmen

Srinagar, March 14 GNS): A National Conference activist was injured critically after shot at by unknown gunmen at Bejbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.

Reports reaching GNS said that the National conference activist Mohd Ismail Wani (60) of Bopatyar Bijebhara was fired upon by the gunmen nearby Thajiwara in Bijbehara.

Medical superintendent Bejbehara Sub-District hospital Showkat Ahmad said that Ismail has a bullet wound in his left side of the chest and was referred to SMHS in critical conditions.

A police spokesman said that Ismail was shot at by the militants at about 1745 hrs nearby Thajiwara in Bijbehara.

Police have registered a case in this regard. Officers from the local police unit are at the spot and are investigating the circumstances which led to this incident, he added. (GNS)
