Request all mothers in Kashmir to bring back militant sons: Lt Gen Dhillon

Srinagar, March 9: A top Army officer on Saturday appealed mothers in Kashmir to help the government force bring back their sons who have joined militancy, assuring them of safety and security.

General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Army’s Srinagar-based 15 Corps, Lt Gen K J S Dhillon also appealed the parents to stop their children from joining militant ranks.

“From the core of my heart, I personally request all the mothers in Kashmir to please stop your children from joining militancy and bring back those who have gone astray. I guarantee you their safety, security and 100 per cent absorption in the mainstream,” he said.

The Army officer was addressing a passing out parade of the newly-recruited cadets at Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) regiment at Rangreth in the outskirts of the city here.

The Corps Commander said life was God’s most beautiful gift and meant to live happily with the family.

“Please get them back into mainstream. This one life is the most beautiful gift from God, live it well with your family and remain happy,” he said.

152 cadets recruited into the JAKLI 

152 cadets, including 26 from Kashmir valley, were recruited into the JAKLI regiment after completing rigorous training.  

On Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre showcased its latest batch of passing out young soldiers from the State of J&K, Recruit Course Serial number 117, on having completed one year of strenuous training was attested at a glittering parade at the Bana Singh Parade Ground of JAK Ll Regimental Centre. 

The Passing Out Parade, depicting graduation of a Recruit and his transformation into a Young Soldier, was reviewed by Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon, General Officer Commanding 15 Corps and was attended by over 600 parents and relatives of young soldiers from the State of J&K besides number of civil and military Officers.

The dauntless young soldiers of the Regiment hailing from all regions and religions of the State of J&K, marching in precise unison with a singular aim of devoting their lives in service of their nation, singing their Regimental Song ‘Balidanam Veer Lakshnam’, inspired one and all as their voice echoed in the Kashmir Valley.  

Speaking on the occasion the Chinar Corps Commander congratulated the Young Soldiers for their immaculate Parade and impressed upon selfless service towards the nation. He praised their contribution towards encouraging more and more youth from J&K to come forward to join the Security Forces and also highlighted the vital role played by their parents in motivating their wards to join this noble profession.   The proud parents and relatives pipped the soldiers ready to join their battalions and to tread the immortal path of glory, living up to the best traditions of the Army. As a mark of respect, gratitude and recognition of the contribution made by the parents of these young soldiers, they were also presented with the Gaurav Padaks instituted by the Army.
