Slams ‘callous’ response from admin post snowfall
Srinagar, Feb 12: (GNS) Paying tributes to the youth Hilal Ahmad Rather killed in Pulwama encounter, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said that “everyday our youth are sacrificing their precious lives for the sacred cause of freedom from Indian clutches, making all of us duty bound to safeguard these sacrifices with utmost commitment and dedication to pursue this cause”.
In a statement issued to GNS, Geelani said: “India is suffering from arrogance of power and has tried its best to muzzle our voice, but has utterly failed to do so, and Indian might, its brutality can never deter us from our much cherished goal of right to self-determination.”
He said the situation in the valley is worsening with each passing day and that Indian authorities rely on their military might to suppress people’s aspirations and muzzle voices.
Hurriyat (G) chairman regretted that the “stubborn attitude” of New Delhi regarding this “globally accepted political dispute” and dealing with it only militarily has created death and destruction in whole state and peace and harmony of whole region is threatened. With the resolution of this issue, a new era of peace, stability and development will prevail not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in whole South Asia.
Meanwhile, Geelani in the statement said that continuous bad weather, heavy snow fall and torrential rains for the last couple of weeks have created havoc in Jammu and Kashmir particularly the stranded passengers and their families, and the “callous” response from the administration has added to their miseries.
Expressing his grief and sorrow over the problems faced by people, Geelani said it has exposed the tall claims of the establishment.
“This unnatural road link is always under the harsh shadows of weather and it has consumed thousands of people in addition to the property worth millions. This deadly link sucks the blood of Kashmiris for the last 71 years and no year has passed when its connectivity is un-interrupted throughout the year,” he said.
Hurriyat (G) chairman said that thousands of fruit loaded trucks and their owners are stranded at the mercy of weather and poor and helpless fruit growers are made to watch their hard earned wealth, decaying in front of them.
The passengers waiting for the road to open are financially exhausted and instead of providing them food shelter, government has forced them to the mercy of the “fascist and sick-minded” Hindutva preachers who thrashed and stoned these helpless people and made them to run for their life.
Geelani said that every event in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 7 decades has proved the genesis and philosophy of the Two Nation theory right.
“When a yatra bus meets an accident in Kashmir, people come to their rescue and provide them every possible help, but when our people face any hardship outside, handful of venomous people try to take their revenge by harassing them,” he said.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Geelani has expressed his shock over the demise of Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Bashir-ud-din Farooqi.
The deceased was not only a learned Islamic scholar, but a noble and pious man as well, Geelani said and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
On the directions of Geelani, Syed Naseem-u-Zaffer Geelani participated in the nimaz-e-Jinaza of Mufti Bashir-ud-din Farooqi. (GNS)
